ABOUT US

Moonee Ponds MindBody Health Centre is a place of healing for the mind, body and soul - a place for the nurturing of personal and spiritual growth and development.

It is the largest holistic health centre in Victoria offering a wide range of both traditional and complementary healing modalities.

Clients can choose, often in consultation with a practitioner, which therapies can best assist them in their healing and growth at each stage in their life.

Client responsibility for their own health is also an integral part of the healing process. All practitioners share the same holistic healing philosophy and meet weekly to discuss issues relating to clients' illnesses, therapeutic modalities and their place in the treatment of specific illnesses.

The Centre was founded in 1996 by Dr Anne Small whose Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was cured by a combination of complementary therapies and her own personal and spiritual growth.

The Centre and its practitioners are continually growing and evolving to meet their own needs, the needs of clients and the needs of the environment.

Dr Anne Small

Dr Anne Small is very experienced in diagnosing physical and emotional illnesses after having graduated in 1973 and gaining extensive experience working in centres including the Kensington Community Health Centre, The Royal Children's Hospital and the Aboriginal Health Service.

She will perform the necessary physical examination and testing, and work with the client to develop a holistic management plan.

Dr Small founded the Moonee Ponds MindBody Health Centre in 1996 and has worked with many different complementary practitioners over this time. As such, she has an excellent knowledge of how the different therapies can assist individual clients at different stages of their healing journey.

She recognises the side effects caused by many Western drug treatments, therefore non-pharmaceutical approaches are often favoured and referrals may be made to other practitioners at the Centre for natural healing remedies. She also specializes in prescribing bio identical hormones where the client has a hormone deficiency.

Dakini Space Alchemy

Image“Weaving energetic awareness and sacred geometry into design”

The new MindBody Health Centre has been meticulously designed both inside and out. Dakini Space Alchemy formulated the interior of the building based on principles of Sacred Geometry, Feng Shui and Geomancy. This use of principles has been implemented within and throughout the health centre for a number of important reasons, including the following:

  • To create a space which is conducive to healing and well being
  • To express the sacred nature of the healing space in all the elements of design
which results in a new architecture
  • To assist in the most positive flow of energy into and out of the health centre which enhances the feeling of nurturing and support or all who visit and work in the space
  • To weave energetic awareness and intuitive spatial perception in the health centre and
    the surrounding grounds and landscape

Dakini Space Alchemy comprises of Lana Whittington, lnterior Designer & Feng Shui
Practitioner, creator of sacred and healing spaces, and co-founder of Dakini Space Alchemy,
Maxim Haim, Geomancer, Artist & Graphic designer and Ariel Spilsbury, Energetic
Spiritual Awareness Facilitator, Sound Therapist, Counsellor, Writer and Author.

Lana is the Key Interior Designer & Feng Shui consultant for the Moonee Ponds MindBody Health Centre. She translates the conceptual and schematic into plans and three dimensional reality.

Lana's role for Moonee Ponds MindBody Health Centre was to translate the client’s brief of a desire to design with principles of sacred geometry and Feng Shui to create a practical and functional, aesthetically beautiful interior sacred and healing space.

“Anne asked for a centre in which people can heal even by just sitting in the waiting area , and that is exactly what we created. Consciousness awakens and aligns with the universal energy of who we really are. The building is a facilitator of this in its every little detail,” said Lana.

Maxim Haim
www.maximhaim.com

Maxim Haim consults in traditional geomancy, establishing the earth's existing energy lines, lay lines, dragon lines, underground water, nexus points, mobile personal lines and other influencing energetic ‘hot spots’.

Having identified ‘hot spots’, he either activates or deactivates the specific ‘spot’ and surrounding areas by the use of crystal placement and other specific remedies to block an unnatural flow or unblock the natural flow, allowing the site to restore itself to its existing and natural energy quality for the benefit of Gaia earth.

“From the very first site meeting at the new Centre, I could not believe how clean the site was energetically... not an overhead power line in sight, which is increasing rare these days,” said Max.

It is vital this kind of energy work take place before and in conjunction with Feng Shui and design overlay because the earth’s magnetic field and its associated positive and negative lines and watercourses can greatly affect the outcomes of both design and feng shui . the feng shui and design then acts to correct and offer the best possible layout , materials , colours and remedies appropriate to the site specifically.

Dakini

Dakini literally means "she who travels in the sky"; this is sometimes rendered poetically as "sky dancer" or "sky walker".

The word Dakini refers to enlightened compassionate activity embodied as a spirit in female form.

A Dakini inspires the union of skilful means and penetrating awareness, and represents the inspirational impulses of consciousness that lead to understanding and wisdom. Lana has skills and perception to transform the etheric, energetic, or sub conscious into three dimensional form, creating functional and practical spaces which embody a greater universal wisdom.

Space Alchemy

The 'magic of the space' – space alchemy makes the magic happen in the space through design and practicality. Space exists within three dimensions; the alchemy 'transforms' whatever is present in that particular space, whilst taking into account the forth dimension of time.

Simply put, space alchemy transforms a space completely.

Dakini Space Alchemy advised the Moonee Ponds MindBody Health Centre on design, features, materials, colour and objects. Dakini's design process and requirements resulted in the achievement of the following unique aims and objectives featured in the design for this centre

Creating a ‘spirit place’ – this is the essence of the health centre, necessary to bring alive its spirit

  • To design a building which resonates a healing energetic field as a result appropriate for a health centre that the client should experience the beginnings of healing from the moment they step onto the site and into the building
  • To design in accordance with the Geomancy; or earth energies of the site
  • To gain an understanding of, and relationship to the site and the naturally existing energies

Creating a ‘sacred space’ – creating the design of the centre in accordance with Sacred Geometry and Feng Shui principles

  • to design a layout which flows with the natural universal flow and the resulting forms that arise from this
  • to advise the best position of rooms, services and layout appropriate to the Traditional Feng Shui Flying Star Chart of the newly renovated building.
  • to advise on fixtures, finishes, artwork, furniture, lighting, colours, materials and textures which are appropriate to the resulting design
  • to commission artists & sculptors to create site specific features to embody the sacred geometry physically; for example via the glass art windows and the water feature
  • to conceal geometry design elements into the resulting finishes and fixtures to raise conscious awareness of it via the subconscious ; for example the carpet design

Creating a 'healing /healthy space'

  • to conduct a Sick Building Audit to ensure the building biology is sound and the healthiest it can be.
  • to ensure the most green building efficiencies are implemented where possible.
  • to eliminate as much as possible the affect of unhealthy and toxic substances such as those emitted by electro magnetic field (EMF) and volatile organic compounds (VOC)
  • to only use products in the centre that are 'environmentally sensitive'

Creating a 'beautiful space'

From an architectural and design perspective, the aesthetics of everything featured in the centre exudes a certain beauty and awe-inspiring quality

  • The carpets are lush and beautifully patterned, replicating falling leaves on a forest floor as found in nature
  • The waiting room feature light fitting is inspired by orbs and spheres of light which replicate the moon and planets.
  • The glasswork incorporates sacred geometry designs and uses metallic paint technology to allow the rainbow of colour effect to be visually captivating.
  • Another feature light fitting is inspired by the white dove that was living and nesting in the rafters of the cathedral ceilings.
  • The marble incorporates semi-precious labradorite stone and fossilised nautilus shells which are strategically lit to enhance the lustre of the material.
  • The water feature also incorporates labradorite marble enclosed in a stunning amethyst cave style of design.

The word Dakini refers to enlightened compassionate activity embodied as a spirit in female form.

Wendy Clarke, Dirtscape Dreaming

ImageThe Centre’s gardens and landscaping around the building were designed by Dirtscape Dreaming, which won two gold medals at the 2009 Garden Show.

Wendy Clarke, director of Dirtscape Dreaming, has created several eye-catching, stunning and functional landscape features on the Centre grounds. Her design philosophy for the Centre was to create a landscape which taps into people’s innate sense of connecting with the magnificence of nature.

The healing journey actually starts at the front entrance of the Centre as people walk through the unique Moon Gate. The aim is to literally change people’s moods from whatever they are feeling, to a calmer, serene state of mind before entering the front door.
