Naturopaths follow the principle that the body as a ‘vital force’ constantly working to bring the body back into a state of health. Natural therapies are used to support the body to heal itself.
Naturopathy can be used to treat conditions such as; anxiety, depression, digestive disturbances, colds and influenza, chronic fatigue, fertility, menopause, children’s health, men’s health, arthritis and weight management issues.
Nutrition
Effective digestive function is essential to maintain an ideal nutritional status. Lifestyle choices various health conditions and food intolerances can greatly impact on our ability to maintain optimal health.
As a Naturopathic practitioner, Kate helps her clients to gain a better understanding of their individual nutritional needs and teach them how to adapt their diet for achieving optimum health.
Specific foods, mineral and nutritional supplements may be given to strengthen and balance the body.
Homeopathy
This
form of medicine is a highly individualised form of treatment which needs
to fit the individual on a physical and emotional level. This theory of
medicine is based on the law of 'like cures like'. Homeopathy has been practiced
since the 1700's. The old Prince Henry’s hospital in St Kilda Road
was built as a homeopathic hospital.
The theory of homeopathy is that a minute dose of a substance will cure symptoms in an unwell person but create those similar symptoms in a healthy person. A remedy is matched according to the individual so a thorough assessment is required. These remedies are extremely effective for both acute and chronic conditions.
Homeopathy is a very gentle form of medicine, ideal for people of all ages. Children especially respond well to the pleasant tasting remedies.
Iridology
In the initial
iridology consultation, Kate takes photos of the iris as a diagnostic tool
to assess the constitutional strength of the client, and highlight potential
underlying health issues and psychological make-up.
The colour and structure of a client’s iris is ‘read’ with the understanding that the eye is a reflection of one’s past three generations. The eye is an indication of potential health issues which may or may not present themselves according to the way we choose to live. Reading the eye can greatly assist with nutritional and lifestyle advice together with an appropriate treatment plan.
Western Herbal Medicine
As a European herbalist, Kate uses the principles of naturopathy to guide herbal treatment. Following a thorough health examination, an individualised herbal prescription is prepared to address the individual’s physical, emotional and psychological health issues.
These prescriptions may be in tablet, powdered herb, tea or liquid form. These herbs work to nourish various body systems in order to support the body back into a state of balance, thereby encouraging the body’s natural healing process.
