    Dr. Andrea Ormazabal is a registered Osteopath and a professional member of Osteopathy Australia. Working as a health professional and clinician for over 20 years, Andrea has experienced health care on a number of levels within Nursing and Midwifery before qualifying as an Osteopath in 2007.

    Andrea has additional Post graduate qualifications in Obstetric and Paediatric Osteopathy which allow her to clinically assess and treat musculoskeletal injuries from the toddler to the senior, sporting injuries, pregnancy/postnatal related musculoskeletal complaints, women’s and men’s health, babies and children.

    With a keen interest in injury prevention and rehabilitation, patients receive a holistic consultation focusing on the presenting musculoskeletal complaint, lifestyle factors such as home and workplace ergonomics, exercise and nutrition; in additional exercise prescription to suit each client’s specific needs. Andrea is also fluent in the Spanish language and is pleased to clarify all treatment approaches with clients.

    Osteopathic treatment utilises therapeutic techniques which may include but are not limited to – Soft tissue stretching and massage, Muscle energy technique, mobilising, of skeletal joints which include muscles, tendons and bone including fascia.

    Registered Osteopath Andrea Ormazabal utilises a holistic approach aiming to work closely with client’s presenting musculoskeletal complaints as well as applying stretching exercise prescription, rehabilitation and dry needling as part of a comprehensive approach promoting positive pain and mobility outcomes for her clients.

    Osteopathy & Pregnancy

    During Pregnancy a woman’s body can undergo tremendous change hormonally and anatomically which may cause musculoskeletal complaints or alter the course of preexisting ailments (Ireland.Lloyd; Ott. 2000). Osteopaths managing pregnancy related musculoskeletal conditions such as Lower back pain. Pelvic instability and pelvic floor weakness . Sacroiliac dysfunction, Symphysis pubic pain, Neck strain; Uncomfortable postural changes. Treatments are accommodated to suit each phase of pregnancy and level of mobility with the aim of keeping clients active, mobile from pregnancy to birth and beyond.

    Paediatrics

    Typically babies and children can experience everyday body impacts as part of the process of birthing, play, sports and falls. An Osteopathic paediatric consultation involves a clinical assessment and discussion with parents followed by gentle noninvasive ‘hands on’ techniques with parental consultation.
