Osteopathy Could Be The Key To Reducing Lower Back Pain
Recent research published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association suggests that just six sessions of osteopathy over an eight-week period could be enough to reduce pain and increase mobility in patients with lower back pain.
Osteopathy is a complementary-based physical therapy, based on manipulation of muscles and joints to relieve musculoskeletal complaints.
Lower back pain, known also as lumbago, is a frequent and recurring condition often caused by damage to the muscles, tendons and ligaments supporting the spine. Lower back pain is considered ‘acute’ if lasting up to six weeks or ‘chronic’ when it continues beyond three months.
Sciatica may be experienced as pressure on the sciatic nerve and can provoke a sharp pain, shooting like an electric shock from the base of the back down the leg and to the toes.
